Direct Line Life Insurance has a new service for policyholders, as a result of its partnership with digital healthcare provider Doctor Care Anywhere.

At no extra charge, customers now have the option to have a year’s access to the online service for up to four people when taking out a new policy. Doctor Care Anywhere provides daily appointments with UK-qualified and BMA-approved GPs over the phone or via video call from 8am to 10pm.

As part of the virtual consultations, GPs are able to issue prescriptions and refer patients for further private treatment, as well as write fit notes or medical certificates. The platform also features a health tracker, allowing users to not only monitor symptoms and medication but also export health reports.

“We believe passionately in providing an exceptional healthcare service and delivering this in a way that is truly valued by our patients,” said Doctor Care Anywhere chief executive Tony Graff. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with Direct Line Life Insurance and offer our services that are both convenient to access and available when the patient needs it.”

According to Direct Line Life Insurance head Trevor Bush, the partnership will enable customers to consult a trustworthy source quickly and easily in cases of non-urgent medical enquiries.

“Policyholders and their families can benefit from both increased convenience, avoiding potential long waits for a consultation, and peace of mind after receiving expert advice,” he said. “People in emergency medical situations should however always go to the hospital or phone 999.”

Meanwhile new policyholders may opt for an e-voucher for Marks & Spencer or Amazon, if they don’t wish to gain access to Doctor Care Anywhere’s virtual consulting service.
