Hannah Gurga

Hannah Gurga is the Director General of the ABI, leading the insurance and long-term savings sector’s engagement with government, regulators, parliamentarians and stakeholders. She is responsible for overseeing the ABI’s strategic direction and driving its members’ priorities including improving outcomes for customers, tackling climate change and improving diversity and inclusion across the industry. Hannah sits on the ABI Board, as well the Board of The CityUK and HM Treasury’s Financial Inclusion Policy Forum.

Hannah has a wealth of financial services and trade association experience, having worked across the public and private sector over the past 17 years. She joined the ABI in February 2022 from UK Finance where she was Managing Director for Digital, Tech and Cyber, leading their governance and membership teams and overseeing activities relating to digital innovation, AI & data ethics, resilience and cyber security.

She previously led global regulatory strategy and government relations at the London Stock Exchange Group, and also held roles at LCH and ICAP as Chief of Staff and Head of European Affairs respectively. Hannah began her career in the civil service where she worked at HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office and Ministry of Defence.
