Aon's Kevan Johnston has been appointed managing director for commercial, while Scott Willmot’s role as chief growth officer has been expanded to incorporate the responsibilities of chief commercial officer, the London-based professional services firm has announced.

“The two appointments are designed to build on the gains we’ve made in both our commercial (SME/mid-market) business and across our sales and industry group capabilities and will help drive our continuing and strategic growth agenda,” said James Baum, incoming chief executive officer at Aon Risk Solutions.

Johnston, who joined the firm in early 2017 as chief commercial officer, “has driven Aon’s strong focus on sales capabilities and execution,” and in his new role is expected to continue the growth strategy Aon has built for the commercial business, Baum said.

Willmot, meanwhile, has driven a firm-wide focus on industry groups and joint sales efforts, and brought together Aon’s two marketing teams and managed its growing sports partnership program during the 12 months he spent as Aon United chief growth officer, Aon said in a statement.

In his expanded role, Willmot will align sales, marketing, and bid management teams and continue to chair the Aon United board.

“Scott is the right person to evolve and expand this critical growth role and to absorb the responsibilities of chief commercial officer,” Baum said.

Both Johnston and Willmot will take on their new roles from the close of second quarter this year.
