Gallagher Bassett has announced the appointment of Shaun Meehan as general manager for self-insurance in Australia.

In his new role, Meehan will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the national self-insurance business unit. He will lead GB’s national self-insurance contracts as well as its NT government and Comcare contracts.

Prior to the appointment, Meehan led GB’s SA workers’ compensation operations. He has more than 16 years of experience at GB, having previously worked in corporate and commercial leadership roles in New South Wales and Victoria. He also served as the South Australian operations manager in 2012.

Meehan “brings a wealth of experience to the role, spanning over claims management, operations, and risk management,” said John McNamara, GB Australia CEO. “These skills will assist us to deliver improved quality outcomes for our customers.”

GB provides self-insurance claims management services for public sector employees on behalf of the Northern Territory government – an operation being led by Meehan and his self-insurance team.
