Insurtech disruptor Coverhero has taken the charge to save Australia’s freelancers and contractors from the COVID-19 threat by providing those who contract the virus income protection through its flagship product, Hustlecover.

Unlike any other insurance product on the market today, Hustlecover features a short 14-day claims waiting period regardless of accident or sickness, in stark contrast to the industry standard of three months. Those who availed of the Hustle Pro package will be eligible to receive nearly double the newly allocated weekly emergency Centrelink payment.

“The government talk and talk about protecting people, but only when things are completely dire do they step in. And even when they do, it’s simply not enough,” said Naby Mariyam, CEO and founder of Coverhero. “I experienced the pain of not having a safety net less than three years ago when my husband became seriously ill. It’s why I started Coverhero and it’s what drives me to support Australia’s gig economy workers through this difficult time.”

Coverhero aims to provide a safety net to the country’s independent workers and scaled back full-timers who are experiencing more uncertainty than ever during these difficult times, particularly AirBnB hosts, consultants, e-commerce owners, fashion designers, startup founders, home business owners, personal trainers, photographers, rideshare/taxi drivers, small business owners, designers, and yoga instructors.

To make a claim and receive a quick injection of funds, customers only need a doctor’s certificate.
