DLA Piper has welcomed renewables expert Luke Westmore to its team as a partner based in Melbourne.

Westmore (pictured) is a front-end project and infrastructure partner. For the last 15 years, he has focused on large-scale renewable energy projects in Australia and internationally. He joined DLA Piper from PwC Legal.

“Luke brings critical experience in energy and renewables, where we see significant opportunity ahead to support both global and Australian companies as they work towards net zero. The investment required by government and companies in renewable energy infrastructure over the next decade and beyond is immense. Luke is a true expert and trusted adviser to clients in this sector,” said Amber Matthews, Australia managing partner at DLA Piper.

New role

Matthews said Westmore's wealth of renewable energy sector experience aligns with the firm's focus on advising clients in energy transition and the aspects of the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) spectrum.

Commenting on his appointment, Westmore said: “The firm offered a clear strategy on [its] path forward in the Australian market, which focused on [its] sector strengths and commitment to ESG, which aligned with my outlook and values.”

Westmore joined DLA Piper after the appointment of Tony Rutherford as a partner in its Melbourne finance, projects, and restructuring (FP&R) practice.
