Gallagher Bassett has appointed John Deane to the newly established position of operations manager for self-insurance/GB Assist.

Based in Sydney, Deane will showcase the depth of expertise within the Gallagher Bassett in delivering self-insurance and GB assist solutions to clients. He will lead the operations of both growing lines of business for Australia.

Deane started his career in workers' compensation in 2007, where he held injury management and people management roles before joining Gallagher Bassett in 2013. He also held various leadership roles at Gallagher Bassett, including communications manager and service manager as part of the start-up RTWSA contract, performance manager and later transformation manager in New South Wales, and partnership manager with Gallagher Bassett.

In 2019, Deane was named Service Provider of the Year at the Northern Territory Insurance Industry Awards for utilising his experience and expertise to quickly adapt to the evolving needs of the Northern Territory and its workers' compensation portfolio.

John McNamara, the chief executive officer of Gallagher Bassett Australia, commented: “We're delighted for John to commence working in the capacity of operations manager – self-insurance/GB assist.
