A data science and consumer marketing expert with more than 25 years of experience has joined a Sydney-based global insurer to further develop its data-analytics capability.

In his new role as IAG’s chief analytics officer, Bora Arslan will lead the analytics program in IAG Customer Labs and oversee the 70-person team to drive the future strategic direction of the analytics and artificial-intelligence functions within the group.

Prior to joining the insurance giant, Arslan was global chief analytics officer at advertising agency GTB, based in Dearborn, Michigan. He also worked as chief data and analytics officer at BGL Group in London and held senior roles at multinational retail corporation Walmart Labs and US pharmacy giant Walgreens.

Arslan “brings with him an impressive global perspective – from his experience with some of the biggest consumer companies in the world, to his foundations in academic practice at the forefront of the analytics space,” said Julie Batch, IAG chief customer officer. “Bora’s deep expertise in analytics and digital transformation will be pivotal to IAG continuing to focus on how we can better deliver to our customers.”
