Former-IAG CEO and managing director Mike Wilkins has secured a board role with Medibank.

Wilkins, who was replaced at IAG by Peter Harmer in late 2015, will join the Medibank board as a non-executive director, effective May 25.

With more than 30 years’ experience in financial services, Wilkins was CEO of Promina Group and managing director of Tyndall before he joined IAG.

Elizabeth Alexander, Medibank chairman, said that Wilkins’ experience in transforming business cultures will be of significant benefit to Medibank.

“He brings to the Board deep insurance sector experience as well as a great passion for customer service and we look forward to the significant contribution he will make to Medibank,” Alexander said.

Wilkins made his return to the insurance industry in October 2016, when it was announced that he had been appointed as a non-executive director at QBE.

Wilkins also holds a non-executive director role at AMP.
