McLardy McShane Partners (McLardy McShane), a rapidly expanding insurance broking group, has acquired Sydney Insurance Brokers.

The deal sees the establishment of a new joint venture entity, McLardy McShane Dimou, with broker Dora Dimou being appointed as managing director. Meanwhile, the trading name of Sydney Insurance Brokers will be retained, and all current employees will also remain.

“We are pleased with the acquisition of Sydney Insurance Brokers by McLardy McShane Group, and my team is very excited about the future,” said former Sydney Insurance Brokers principal Mark Jenkinson, who will take on a consultancy role and assist with the transition.

“The decision as to the successor was not easy, and one of the major considerations was to ensure that I was confident that the successful party would continue to provide professional advice and service, which I have no doubt will continue, and wish all involved the best of success.”

McLardy CEO Don McLardy said the acquisition strengthens the company’s position in the Sydney market. He also hinted at further expansion in NSW to come “in the very near future”.

“We are very excited about the continued expansion of the McLardy McShane Group and extremely pleased to have a well-respected and highly experienced broker such as Dora to join us as a JV partner,” McLardy said. “Our inclusive culture continues to attract quality insurance personnel to the group, which is very humbling.”

Dimou added: “I am thrilled and excited to be partnering with McLardy McShane, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for our joint venture.”
