Transport and logistics insurer NTI has moved into the road freight marketplace industry in a new partnership with TruckIt.net, Australia’s marketplace for road freight services.

The NTI tie-up with TruckIt.net aims to provide TruckIt.net users an extra layer of confidence when moving their goods by offering them an option to take out single transit insurance on qualifying jobs booked through the platform.

“TruckIt has spent many years building a solid platform and loyal following from both users and transport providers, and we couldn’t want a more trusted partner as we expand our portfolio of goods in transit offerings,” said Alan Hasted, NTI general manager direct. “We have an opportunity with TruckIt to tap into a largely untapped section of the market: individuals who purchase goods through online marketplaces or micro/small businesses shipping to consumers. Currently, these groups don’t insure because they don’t know they need to – instead relying on the carrier or a warranty to protect their interests.”

“Our customers have made it clear they want the additional confidence provided by insurance that covers their materials while on the road,” said Robert Russell, TruckIt.net founder and managing director. “We listened and went about finding the best possible partner we could. Our users will now have a seamless, fully-integrated option to insure their goods while in transit. NTI has gone above and beyond to ensure our customers have access to the best insurance coverage at the most affordable price and we look forward to growing the relationship in the future.”

NTI said there are more than 700 million parcels and 50 million general freight transits occurring in Australia – 25 million of which are estimated to be contestable freight opportunities.
