Sedgwick has appointed Leah Cooper (pictured) as global chief digital officer, a newly established role.

In this role, Cooper will spearhead Sedgwick’s initiatives in technology research and development. She will also collaborate across company disciplines and business lines to advance the organisation’s digital roadmap and transformation strategy.

Cooper became part of Sedgwick in 2014, when the company acquired Absentys, a software development and service provider she co-founded. She most recently served as managing director of global consumer technology. She also positions as vice president and later as senior vice president of IT applications, overseeing the design and development of Sedgwick’s client-facing technology.

“Leah is an integral part of our technology leadership team,” said Jason Landrum, global chief information officer. “She always looks to improve the employee and customer experience by identifying, streamlining, and implementing innovative technology-based solutions.”

“Leah brings a fresh, out-of-the-box perspective to every project and works seamlessly with numerous teams and stakeholders to deliver key strategic solutions. She has proven her capabilities time and time again and inspires everyone around her.”

Under Cooper’s guidance, the Sedgwick technology team developed smart.ly, a cloud-based, multilingual platform facilitating web-based and API-driven claim intake and submission.

Furthermore, she assembled a team focused on creating practical use cases for generative AI earlier this year. This contributed to the launch of Sedgwick’s ChatGPT tool, Sidekick.

“Sedgwick has always been at the forefront of technology-based solutions, and we remain committed to providing state-of-the-art platforms for our valued clients and colleagues,” said Cooper. “I am grateful for this opportunity, which allows me to continue exploring my passion: tackling complex problems with innovative technology solutions.”

Cooper holds a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University. She also recently earned a certificate of specialisation in entrepreneurship innovation from Harvard Business School Online.
