The September icare Aware Award has been granted to Sylvanvale, in recognition of the NSW disability services provider’s shift to a proactive safety culture that has reduced workers’ compensation claims by half.

Sylvanvale won the September icare Aware Award for excellence in injury prevention for developing a comprehensive work health and safety strategy that led to a 50% reduction in workers’ compensation claims.

The strategy comprised of 30 actions, which ranged from small changes to large initiatives and projects, focusing on preventing injuries, getting injured workers back to work faster, improving safety systems, identifying training needs, and improving overall wellbeing of their workers.

“Sylvanvale has demonstrated how a shift in culture, backed by a robust safety strategy, goes a long way towards making sure everyone goes home safely every day," said Jennifer Cameron, icare’s injury prevention manager.
