Allianz Australia (Allianz) has become the first general insurer offering plan management services for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants.

As a registered NDIS provider, Allianz will offer plan management services to the scheme's participants across Australia. Participants who choose Allianz as their NDIS provider will be assigned a dedicated plan manager to ensure they receive a personalised service and continuity of care, with the aim being to improve their overall experience.

Additionally, the insurer has said it will apply rigorous governance around financial management, fraud detection, and risk management to further bring more value to the NDIS.

Allianz creates dedicated NDIS team

Allianz will have a dedicated NDIS team composed of trained individuals specialising in supporting and communicating with people with disabilities, supported by industry experts.

The team members will also train to advise on appropriate treatment and therapies, supporting both the participant and offering value to the NDIS overall.

“At Allianz, we proudly hold more than 100 years' experience supporting Australians who have experienced illness, injury, or manage a disability. This knowledge of suitable healthcare practices, together with our diligent processes around financial management and fraud detection, will help ensure services provided are legitimate and provide value for money. People are at the core of what we do at Allianz. By becoming an NDIS plan manager, we will support NDIS participants in building their capability to manage their NDIS funding, with our aim being to support participants in being independent and living their best lives,” said Mark Pittman, general manager, government services (personal injury), Allianz Australia.

The NDIS will cover all Allianz plan management fees, without out-of-pocket costs charged by Allianz to NDIS participants that choose the insurer's plan management services. Additionally, the insurance giant aims to process those participants' invoices for NDIS-approved services and support within two business days of receipt.

Allianz's NDIS services are available from April 2023 and accessed via a dedicated online portal. NDIS participants and providers can track spending and receive real-time updates via the portal.

In addition to the NDIS update, Allianz Care Australia recently launched a new direct billing mental health network for overseas students.
