Gallagher Bassett (GB) has expanded its legal service offerings in the UK by acquiring Caytons Law LLP, a firm specialising in commercial and professional liability claims.

This acquisition brings together Caytons’ expertise and the capabilities of GB’s in-house law firm, Strata Solicitors, to form a consolidated legal services division.

“In joining the GB team, Caytons will have access to the resources and knowledge to continue our growth and be backed by a stable, expert partner with a strong presence in the UK market,” said Sam Moore, managing partner of Caytons.

According to Moore, the collaboration aligns Caytons with a well-established partner while preserving the firm’s focus on client service and legal excellence.

The combined team will provide a range of services, including recovery and subrogation, coverage analysis, and complex litigation support. These services are tailored to meet the needs of corporations, insurers, captives, and managing general agents, with the goal of streamlining the claims process and addressing complex legal issues effectively.

Strata Solicitors director Chris Sturridge-Packer noted that the growing complexity and volume of claims requiring litigation have made it increasingly important to have a legal partner capable of managing cases from initial filing to resolution.

“The wealth of expertise within our company is bolstered by GB’s entrepreneurial approach. This means that our clients can always expect our team to deliver value; claim after claim, year after year,” said Sturridge-Packer.

The acquisition reflects GB’s strategy to integrate its legal and claims management services, creating a seamless experience for clients. With Caytons joining its portfolio, GB aims to offer solutions that combine legal insight with operational efficiency.

“GB is a global company which brings security and prestige, but at its core it remains a company that rewards entrepreneurship," Moore said. He also pointed to opportunities for cross-team collaboration as a key advantage of the partnership.
