The gender pay gap in New Zealand has been steadily reducing – from 16.3% in 1998 to 9.4% in 2017. But, according to the Ministry for Women NZ, improvements have stalled in the last decade.

Director of Policy, Ministry of Women NZ, Margaret Retter will be at the upcoming Women in Insurance Summit this July, to provide tips on how can organisations can help improve gender pay outcomes.

Retter will discuss how organisations can close the pay gap between men and women; how pay equity can be tackled through strategic planning; and what changes need to happen.

The inaugural summit will feature some of the top women executives in the insurance industry, including Hetal Parmar from Willis Towers Watson; Petra Lucioli from Delta Insurance NZ; Dita Russell from Chubb Insurance; Benita Murray from Aon; and many others. In a mixture of keynotes and panel discussions, they will discuss some of the key challenges women in the sector face, such as unconscious bias and getting to the top.

The Women in Insurance Summit 2018 will be held at the Cordis Auckland on Tuesday, July 24.

The summit has been accredited for 2.5 CPD points by the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand.
