Due to New Zealand’s COVID-19 red setting, MAS has postponed its MAS Talks event, which was scheduled for March. The insurer is currently searching for a suitable date later this year, possibly during the spring.

MAS Talks will feature Sir Ian Taylor, a former TV presenter and technology innovator. Taylor founded Dunedin-based Animation Research, which specialises in computer animation and sports graphics. Its Virtual Eye division developed technology used in various sports, such as ball tracking in cricket.

Taylor was named New Zealand Innovator of the Year in 2019 and received his knighthood in the 2021 New Year’s Honours.

“We’re disappointed we cannot go ahead with our events, but the red setting means it’s not possible for us to gather safely,” MAS said. “We will always put the health and safety of our members and staff first so will wait until later in the year to celebrate this special event with you.”

The company said it will announce a new date for the event once details have been finalised, as it prefers for the gathering to be held in person rather than online.
