Rothbury Insurance Brokers has created the new role of general manager – risk and compliance, with Rodney Knight (pictured) as its first holder.

Knight will manage the company’s compliance obligations and help the business establish systems and processes that align with the industry’s changing needs, according to a statement from the broker.

Prior to joining Rothbury, Knight was head of compliance for AIA New Zealand from 2018 to 2020.

“The Financial Services landscape is on the move and there are many changes taking place with entity licensing, a new code of professional conduct for financial advice services and revised disclosure regulations,” said Roger Abel, managing director of Rothbury Insurance Brokers.

“Rodney is tremendously knowledgeable in the compliance and risk space and has a deep understanding across the banking and insurance sector. He will be working closely with our executive leadership team as we turn our focus towards making sure we establish systems and processes that align to our changing obligations while maintaining our current high level of client service.”

This is the third major appointment for Rothbury over the past few months. The company appointed Bruce Mawson as leader – business development & sales, and head of its Wellington branch, late last year, while Martin Fallaize was named Auckland’s assistant branch manager earlier this year.
