Tower has announced that it is now offering boat insurance policies online, following the exit of Club Marine late last year.

Allianz subsidiary Club Marine ceased doing new business in New Zealand on Dec. 1. Having secured a referral agreement with Club Marine, Tower also recruited several marine insurance specialists to grow its expertise in the boat insurance market.

According to a statement by Tower, this move allows Kiwis to arrange their house, contents, car and boat insurance online – all with one insurer.

Previously, boat owners had to hunt out specialist insurance providers or transact via phone to get a policy arranged.

The benefits provided by Tower’s boat insurance policies include replacement cover for new boats for the first three years, as well as cover for social yacht racing. Tower said it will charge only one excess if an incident involving a boat results in claims on multiple Tower policies. Optional benefits like recreational gear cover are also available.

“Our boat insurance offering on our digital platform is market-leading,” said Nick Meister, Tower Insurance marine manager. “We’ve used our experience and focus on technology to help customers get insurance cover quickly with pricing that is tailored to your particular boat. Customers can also enjoy our multi-policy discount offering when they bundle and purchase other Tower products.”
