Three long-time members of the Allianz UK family have new roles to play within the insurer’s motor trade business.

First off, Simon Barker has been appointed as regional motor trade underwriting manager for North & Scotland. Most recently serving as motor trade account underwriter, Barker has held several key positions in motor trade underwriting since coming onboard in 2004.

The appointment will see the regional management team member lead the underwriting discipline within the company’s freshly minted Motor Trade Centre of Excellence (North).

Meanwhile assuming the regional motor trade manager post in the south are Helen Unitt and Spencer Berry, who will have joint responsibility for setting the underwriting strategy in the region. The duo’s remit also includes managing the Motor Trade Centre of Excellence (South).

Berry, who joined the Milton Keynes branch in 2000 as a commercial underwriter, was Allianz’s motor trade manager for central & east from 2017 while Unitt was recruited in 2005 as an assistant underwriter in Southampton and had served as motor trade account underwriter since 2013.

“I’m really pleased to be announcing these three appointments within the motor trade team,” said broker markets director Sarah Mallaby.

“Helen, Spencer, and Simon have a vast amount of experience and knowledge in the motor trade sector and I have no doubt that their combined expertise will deliver excellent results for this pivotal business area. I wish them great success in their new roles.”
