Major insurer Allianz has appointed Nick Hobbs and Sarah Mallaby as directors of broker markets, commercial and personal lines.

The two leaders will share the responsibility for Allianz’s branch network in the UK, strategic account management and personal broking teams.

“Appointing two directors of broker markets demonstrates our intention to be even more visible and proactive in the broker community as we look for opportunities to build long term profitable relationships,” said Simon McGinn, general manager of commercial and personal lines of business.

“I am very pleased that we’ve been able to make these two key appointments from within the company because it enables us to make a seamless change for the benefit of our broker partners,” he added.

Hobbs will be in charge of Allianz branches in the London, Central and East regions, along with personal lines broker and strategic distribution management.

Meanwhile, Mallaby will be responsible for the North, North West, Midlands, South West and South East regions.

Mallaby moves from her existing role as head of technical claims, where she led Allianz’s claims technical excellence programme. Meanwhile, Hobbs leaves his current role as head of strategic distribution management, commercial and personal lines.

Hobbs takes up his new role immediately while Mallaby’s appointment takes effect on January 1.
