Allianz Commercial has today announced that subject to regulatory approval, Phuong Ly (pictured) will be appointed Commercial managing director UK, effective April 3, 2025. Prior to Ly taking up his role, Nick Hobbs and Luke Baker will continue to provide interim leadership for the Allianz Commercial UK business.
In a Press release, the insurance giant said Ly’s new role will see him lead all of Allianz’s commercial insurance business in the UK – from digital, mid-market and large-corporate, to its engineering inspection, legal protection and fleet business. He will report to Colm Holmes, CEO of Allianz Holdings UK, and Dirk Vogler, chief regions officer, international, of Allianz Commercial.
Commenting on the appointment Holmes said: “It’s great to have Phuong join us. His current role in Australia means he’s expertly positioned to build an even stronger and fully unified team to serve all our commercial brokers and clients in the UK. Under his leadership our commercial teams will keep building the trusted relationships and local know-how that our brokers and clients value, while providing global support and expertise.”
Vogler also expressed his delight at Ly taking up his role leading all of Allianz’s commercial segments in the UK. “Drawing on his existing experience managing the Australia region I know he will play a key role bringing our Allianz Commercial model in the UK market to the next level,” he said, “unleashing our full potential in targeting new business opportunities and providing solutions to our customers across the full commercial segment.”
