There will soon be a new non-executive chairman at Allianz Holdings.

Paul Evans (pictured) is set to join the board on November 01, later taking over from current chair Rick Hudson when he retires in April. Evans is also set to chair both Allianz Insurance plc and LV= General Insurance Group.

“It is a huge privilege to become chairman of Allianz Holdings plc at such an important time for our industry,” Evans said. “Allianz Insurance and LV= General insurance have built remarkably strong, customer-focused franchises, and they can face the future together with great confidence. I very much look forward to working with Jon [Dye, Allianz Holdings plc CEO], the board and the executive team taking the organisation forward.”

In making the announcement, Allianz noted Evans’ “distinguished career” which included 13 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, 17 years with AXA, as well as being a former chairman of the ABI and currently holding non-executive roles with both Swiss Re and Bupa.

“I am delighted that Paul has agreed to join us on the board of Allianz Holdings,” said Dye. “In these times of great uncertainty, challenge and change in our industry, Paul’s extensive knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping to drive Allianz on to even greater success in the future. Paul is a highly respected figure in the UK insurance market and has an excellent track record of leading organisations to profitable growth.”

The appointment remains subject to regulatory approval.
