Aviva had already established a partnership with HomeServe through its LeakBot detector, and now it is hoping to further strengthen that relationship with a new agreement.

Together, the companies have developed AvivaResponse, a form of home assistance cover that is designed to support customers in the event that they have problems around the home – such as plumbing issues, gas boiler breakdowns and electrical wiring emergencies.

“Aviva Response has been built around our customers,” said Colm Holmes, CEO of Aviva UK general insurance. “We all know how worrying it can be when a boiler breaks or you’re faced with no hot water, so the core of the product is to prevent household emergencies and put things right quickly when they do go wrong.”

Customers can choose from three different options, depending on their needs and their budgets: ‘Heating’, ‘Heating and Plumbing’ and ‘Heating, Plumbing, Electrics and Security’ with cover available from £12.49 a month. All levels include a replacement gas boiler guarantee, meaning that once pre-inspection checks have been passed, if the boiler can’t be repaired, it will be replaced for free if it is less than seven years old. If a boiler is older than seven years, customers will pay £500 towards a replacement.

In addition, customers have access to the Aviva Response team 24/7 and 365 days a year in case of an emergency.

The product is available to customers from today (Feb 13).
