AXA Insurance – in line with its efforts to transform digitally – has partnered with Singapore-based airline Scoot to provide travel insurance to millions of flyers via the online booking route.

Called “Scootsurance,” the offering provides comprehensive coverage against trip interruptions and cancellations, travel delays and missed connections, accidental death and permanent disablement, baggage losses, as well as terrorism. Features also include emergency medical repatriation, hospital visitation benefit, and fast track claims service.

As part of the exclusive partnership, Scoot passengers unable to travel are also afforded reimbursement coverage even if the booking was paid for using KrisFlyer miles. KrisFlyer is the frequent flyer programme of Scoot parent carrier Singapore Airlines. Additional inflight personal accident protection of up to SG$25,000 is also provided.

“Together with Scoot, we are enabling their passengers to purchase travel insurance through an easy and seamless process completely integrated into their ticket purchasing experience,” noted AXA Insurance’s Leo Costes, retail managing director and chief customer officer. “Providing consumers with easy access to our offerings and complementing their journey with a superior user experience is at the heart of our digital transformation efforts.”

The option of adding Scootsurance when buying Scoot tickets is currently available to passengers whose first point of departure is Singapore. It will be rolled out progressively to other countries, with first half of next year as the target completion date.

“Everyone looks forward to a carefree experience when they travel, and so Scootsurance is designed to provide our guests with better coverage, greater value, and exclusive benefits that can be conveniently purchased anytime on our website,” commented Scoot chief commercial officer Vinod Kannan, who added that Scootsurance can be bought through the airline’s website either during flight booking or subsequently via the ‘manage my booking’ function.

Meanwhile also in the offing are personalised Scootsurance offerings, such as profile-based insurance add-ons.
