The AXA Research Fund has just turned 10 and it seems “happy birthday” couldn’t have been more fitting, as the fund secures new backing to the tune of €50 million.

The fund, born on June 28, announced today that it has been granted the endowment over the next five years. Since 2008, it has dedicated €180 million to support 563 projects in 35 countries.

“By contributing to the progress and dissemination of science to address our societies’ challenges, the AXA Research Fund is a key pillar of our corporate responsibility, a vector of AXA’s strategy aiming at offering everyone the means to live a better life,” commented AXA chief executive Thomas Buberl.

Focussing on health, environment, technology, as well as social and economic issues, the fund backs innovative scientific research to better understand and manage risk. In line with the insurer’s strategy, the fund has energy transition and women’s health as its two major priorities for 2018.

AXA Research Fund director Marie Bogataj noted: “Research can play a decisive role in the improvement of women’s specific health conditions and in facilitating solutions for their access to health services.”
