There are a host of new faces in the private clients team for AXA XL in the UK – with the firm swooping for top talent from the likes of Hiscox and Chubb.

First on the list is Chris Lewis, who takes the role of independent broker sales manager. Having previously been a managing director at Borland Private Clients, he also spent 20 years at Chubb. Now he will take the reins for managing relationships and developing the business with its independent broker panel.

Another former Chubb employee is Tom French, who comes on board as sales manager from July 01. He is set to drive the company’s sales efforts and enhance its national broker relationships, having spent the last three years as strategic development manager with Chubb.

Meanwhile, the two names from Hiscox are James Ellis and Steve Morse, who are joining as an underwriter and UK underwriting manager, respectively. Ellis joins immediately, having been high net worth development underwriter at Hiscox and having also spent time at Chubb; while Morse spent the last 16 years at Hiscox, most recently as regional manager for the Midlands.

“I am delighted to welcome Chris, James, Steve and Tom to the team,” said Steve Mobey, head of private clients at AXA XL. “This significant investment in talent demonstrates our commitment to the private clients market in the UK and to providing a best-in-class service for our clients.

“We have very ambitious plans for this market, and these four appointments and the attributes they bring will play an important role in helping us as to deliver on those.”
