Independent specialty MGA Nexus Underwriting has added industry veteran Ed Cornish to its specialist trade credit insurance underwriting agency.

Cornish joins Nexus CIFS as senior underwriter on the single situation trade credit team. He comes from Beazley, where he was responsible for writing single situation credit, contract frustration and political risk business.

“Ed brings considerable expertise with him having built up a strong reputation as a first class broker and underwriter within the London specialist insurance market,” said Nexus CIFS divisional head James Steele-Perkins.

Nexus CIFS managing director Richard Marriage said the new appointment will enable the company to diversify its book further into previously unexplored areas.

“I am confident that Ed will prove to be a valuable addition and great fit with Nexus CIFS and the Nexus Group as a whole,” Marriage said.

Cornish started his career at Catlin Underwriting Agency in 2003 and later served as underwriting technical assistant for political and structured trade credit at Chubb until 2010.

Before joining Beazley in 2014, Cornish also worked as a political risk and structured credit broker and underwriter at Marsh and AN Managing Agency respectively.
