Bridge Specialty Group (Bridge), Brown & Brown, Inc.’s wholesale brokerage segment, has announced that Tim Coles (pictured) will be its new CEO of its European brokerage operations.

“We are excited to announce Tim’s promotion to CEO of Bridge Specialty’s European brokerage operations,” said Stephen Boyd, Bridge’s president.

“Over the last few years, we have been diligently enhancing our London brokerage capabilities. The acquisitions of Lonmar and BdB, in addition to our longstanding London brokerage firm Decus, have provided Bridge Specialty Group with an increasingly diverse set of capabilities in terms of segment specialisation and geographic reach to better serve the evolving needs of our customers,” he added.

Who is Tim Coles?

Coles has more than two decades worth of executive experience within the industry. His most recent role was CEO of Xenia Broking Group, which was part of Kentro Capital Limited. His career in insurance began at Howden where he first became the CEO of its London broking business before being the CEO of Howden Broking Group.

In his new role, Coles will be working closely with the firm’s current leaders across the London brokerage business to promote the further growth of Bridge’s platform as well as to provide additional market access and products for  its consumers.

“We are delighted that Tim is taking on this newly created role, as he combines the experience of operating within the London Market with a proven track record of leadership and delivering business growth,” said Mike Bruce, the CEO of Brown & Brown Europe.

Coles will take up his new position on Jan 1, 2024.

David Pexton, the current CEO of Lonmar Global Risks, a member of Bridge, will be stepping away from his executive responsibilities and will be supporting Coles as well as the combined operation, shifting the focus on key customer and market relationships.

Brown & Brown acquired Kentro Capital Limited in October 2023.
