Citynet Insurance Brokers has appointed Andrew Walsh and Alastair Templeton as the group’s managing director and motor fleet divisional director, respectively.

Two-decade industry veteran Walsh – whose experience is within Lloyd’s and London Market Broking Houses – will focus on market development and coming up with new products for Citynet’s panel of brokers.

Walsh started his career in 1996 with Lloyd’s motor wholesalers R L Davison & Co. He also worked as placing broker at Edgar Hamilton before moving to Carroll & Partners in 2006.

Joining Citynet in 2011, Walsh headed the fleet department and was instrumental in improving the motor division’s revenue stream. In 2014 he was appointed to the board of directors.

“Andy’s experience with us is an invaluable asset to our company and our clients and will no doubt reflect on the work he’s already undertaking,” said Citynet chief executive Richard Scott.

CFO David Walland commented: “We were looking for a person with drive and ambition to keep the business on its upward trajectory and add a new dimension to the executive committee.”

Templeton, who is now the divisional director of Citynet’s motor fleet division, has more than 18 years of experience in motor insurance. His career also began in broking house R L Davison & Co, and he was head of JLT’s wholesale motor department before joining Citynet.

Scott said Templeton’s experience and in-depth knowledge of the motor market will be a “true asset” to the team. For Walsh, he believes the new director’s skillset, relationships, and know-how will be of huge benefit to the company and its trading partners.

Citynet said it is looking to build on its controlled gross written premium, which currently stands at over £130 million.
