Global Risk Partners (GRP)-owned insurance broker network Hedron Network (Hedron) has appointed Chris Haggart as its new CEO, subject to regulatory approval.

Haggart (pictured) joined GRP in 2018 as commercial director for retail. In 2020, he took on additional responsibilities, including ownership of GRP’s digital proposition and performance optimisation and leading specific organic growth initiatives.

Haggart, who will join the Hedron team early in the new year and report to GRP CEO Mike Bruce, commented: “I’m a firm believer in the power of networks and the value they add to broker members, partner insurers, and suppliers. David and his team have done a fantastic job building the business, and I very much look forward to working with them to further enhance the value Hedron delivers to its stakeholders.

“We have ambitious plans for growth, providing more opportunities for our members to tap into the wide range of services we can deliver.”

Bruce, who welcomes Haggart to the Hedron executive team, said: “Chris is a hugely talented executive and is ideally suited to take on this senior role. He has plenty of commercial nous, experience helping to build our retail broking business, and good working relationships with GRP’s insurer partners – an ideal grounding to lead the further development of the Hedron proposition. It is a testament to the strength in depth of the GRP team that we are able to promote from within for this crucial role.”

Hedron is a core part of GRP’s business and has been a key performer since its acquisition in early 2021.

“In this appointment, we are underlining our commitment to the network and our determination to further grow its market presence,” Bruce said.

Haggart will take over the role from David Hopwood, who will remain part of the Hedron leadership team.

Commenting on Hopwood’s time as Hedron’s CEO, Bruce said: “Much of Hedron’s success is down to David’s leadership. He has made an immense contribution since the network became a part of GRP, and I am sure that his strategic insight and relationships with members will continue to make a massive difference to the business in the future.”

Hopwood commented: “During my time with the business, we have built a terrific team, created a market-leading proposition, and forged close and enduring relationships with members. I’m looking forward to supporting the next phase of its development, in full confidence that Chris, in concert with the Hedron leadership team, will bring the energy and expertise to take the business to the next level.”
