It looks like the Insurance Cultural Awareness Network (iCAN) will be celebrating its second anniversary with a bang.

Poised to deliver a full programme of events aimed at promoting multicultural inclusion and progression within the industry, iCAN has announced its roster of sponsors for 2019 or what it calls its ‘year of impact’. These are the Lloyd’s Partner Network, Zurich UK, PremFina, and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.

“We are delighted to be working with some amazing organisations who are committed to supporting multicultural inclusion and making a difference for the BAME (black, Asian, and minority ethnic) community in insurance,” said iCAN co-chair Ajay Mistry (pictured), who is also partnerships director at broker network Brokerbility.

“I thank them for their continued support, and know that with them in 2019, we can build on the progress we have made to date. We started iCAN in 2017, and I’m very proud of what we have delivered so far, but there is still so much to be done.”

Co-chair Kishan Mangat, meanwhile, believes the support from sponsors is vital to the success of the network, which is made up of more than 500 members.

“I’m excited to make 2019 our best yet,” commented Mangat, who is an associate at law firm DWF. “Although with industry partnerships and sponsors, plus other D&I (diversity and inclusion) networks in London, we can make progress – we must keep the pressure on and make an impact for BAME in our industry.

“I call on our industry, be they insurance companies, brokers, or suppliers, to get diversity and inclusion and multiculturalism on their agendas. We know 2019 is going to be our year of impact, and with our two-year anniversary just around the corner, we cannot wait to show everyone what we have in store.”

Over the course of the year iCAN will work with its sponsors to celebrate the benefits of D&I in insurance. Last year more than 600 people participated in the network’s events.
