Several major moves have been announced across the insurance sector in the last 24hrs.
Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Jamie Keaney (pictured left) as head of private clients insurance at Hamilton Global Specialty, its London-based platform, as the Bermuda-headquartered insurer launches a new business line focused on high-net-worth individuals.
Keaney, who is based in London, assumed the role on June 1, 2026. He reports to Mark Johnson, deputy active underwriter and head of Property Direct and Facultative at Hamilton Global Specialty.
Keaney brings more than 30 years of experience in the high-net-worth insurance market to the role, spanning underwriting and broking. He joins from Chubb, where he served as chief underwriting officer for International Private Clients for the past 25 years.
Markel International has appointed Dan McCarthy (pictured right) as managing director of its newly structured marine, energy and construction division in London Market. The insurer said the reorganization is meant to create clearer accountability, improve ease of trading and give brokers simpler access to specialist underwriting expertise across marine, cargo, energy, power, construction and engineering.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has promoted Ben Wyatt to head of marine for North America and the UK, broadening his remit beyond the US to include oversight of the UK and Canada.
The insurer said the move is intended to bring greater alignment across its marine platform and strengthen underwriting, strategy and portfolio management across the regions. Wyatt will work closely with Nick Holding, head of marine UK, as Holding moves towards retirement in June. BHSI also promoted Gregg Shannon to vice-president, contractors equipment and inland marine, and Jim Norman to vice-president, inland marine.
