OAK Global adds planning and risk leaders

OAK Global has promoted Fraser Scott to director of underwriting planning and performance and hired John Coe as chief risk and compliance officer. Scott will coordinate business planning and performance management across Syndicates 2843 and 1440, working with the active underwriters. Coe, a qualified actuary with 20 years' experience in the London Market and Lloyd's, joins from Munich Re Specialty - Global Markets, where he was head of enterprise risk management.

He will embed the group's risk framework in line with Lloyd's and UK regulatory expectations and lead on board and regulatory engagement. Founder and CEO Cathal Carr said the group needs "clear enterprise-wide oversight, strong governance" as it grows. IB UK reported earlier this month that the group will open multi-class Lloyd's capacity to MGAs from January 2027.

Open GI names chief technology and product officer

Open GI has appointed Jim Sadler (pictured top, left) as chief technology and product officer, starting on 4 November, to lead its technology and product teams. Sadler has more than 35 years in insurance and financial services and joins from AutoRek, where he led product, technology and operations, having previously been group CEO of Finova and COO at SSP.

Group CEO James Barnard said the aim is to build a modern software-as-a-service business "prioritising configuration over customisation", with AI embedded in its products. Open GI, which Ares Management bought from Montagu in late 2024, reported revenue of £60 million for the year to May 2025.

Fortegra hires treaty reinsurance lead from London

Fortegra has appointed Guy House as senior vice president, treaty reinsurance, to lead its treaty reinsurance underwriting strategy from its UK office. House has more than 18 years of London market experience writing and buying reinsurance across property, marine, energy, terrorism and aviation, and was most recently head of property at Tamesis Dual. Fortegra received approval to establish Fortegra Insurance Company UK in November 2024 and has since provided capacity to MGAs, including a £5 million professional indemnity binder for Subscribe this month.

Qlaims appoints claims director

Qlaims has appointed Chris Boggis (pictured top, right) as claims director to lead its adjusting practice, and he joined on 19 October. Boggis is a chartered loss adjuster specialising in property and business interruption, with nearly two decades' experience, and joins from Woodgate & Clark, where he led a large commercial property adjusting team.

CEO Liz Latter said he is "an excellent addition to our senior team", and Boggis said Qlaims has a strong commitment to "helping customers achieve better claims outcomes". Qlaims is an MGA whose loss recovery insurance is distributed exclusively through brokers and MGAs, and the policy pays for a dedicated claims specialist.
