The London & International Insurance Brokers' Association (LIIBA) has recently announced the addition of three senior women from the London insurance market to its board.

Gina Butterworth (pictured above left), chief operating officer of Gallagher Re UK, Margarita Hutley (pictured above centre), director at Iris Insurance Brokers, and Holly Shepherd (pictured above right), managing director of Shepherd Compello, have officially joined the LIIBA board.

Butterworth will represent the interests of reinsurance brokers on the board. Meanwhile, Hutley and Shepherd have been appointed to new board positions specifically created to represent smaller broking firms. This move highlights LIIBA's commitment to ensuring diverse representation and expertise within its governance structure.

Christopher Croft, CEO of LIIBA, remarked on the appointments, acknowledging the wide range of experience and specialised knowledge that Butterworth, Hutley, and Shepherd bring to the board. He emphasised the significance of their insights in areas like reinsurance and small firm operations, which will be instrumental in guiding LIIBA's policy and decision-making processes.

“With around 80% of our member businesses having fewer than 50 staff, Margarita’s and Holly’s expertise in this segment of the broking community is particularly valuable. Equally, reinsurance is a significant part of the service our members deliver to their clients and Gina will ensure it is properly considered in our deliberations,” Croft said.

“I am delighted to be sitting on the LIIBA board. Contributing to change and innovation in the industry by ensuring we operate in a diverse and impactful environment is something that makes me excited for the future and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in,” Shepherd said.

The LIIBA board, comprising 21 members, represents a cross-section of insurance brokers operating within the London insurance market.
