ManyPets has overhauled its UK executive team, with Luisa Barile moving across from the role of group CFO to UK CEO. Barile’s appointment as ManyPets’ UK CEO is subject to FCA approval.

Commenting on the change-up, Barile said: “I'm delighted to now lead the UK business, as it enters its next chapter, and to bring ManyPets' unique value and high-quality products to more pet parents.”

Discussing Barile's new leadership role, ManyPets co-founder and group CEO Steven Mendel said Barile has been a part of ManyPets' success story for several years, having led the company's efforts to secure funding to grow in the UK and the US.

“As an actuary, and with her detailed understanding of our business, Luisa is the natural choice for our next UK CEO. She is also supported by a strong executive team who I am confident will lead us from strength to strength,” Mendel said.

Other leadership appointments

ManyPets' other new executive leaders include:

  • Justin Clarke – previously from RSA, Direct Line Group, and Allianz. He takes on the role of chief underwriting officer; and
  • Darren Spriggs, previously at Ageas Protect (AIG Life) and Pacific Life Re. He joins ManyPets as chief operating officer to lead customer service and claims.

The leadership changes follow the decision of long-standing executive team member Oke Eleazu to exit insurance.

Eleazu has been part of ManyPets' growth since 2016 and has held the roles of chief operating officer and UK CEO. He is stepping away to start a new initiative, “Elevate Colour,” which aims to improve the representation of people of colour in leadership roles in the UK.

Moving forward, ManyPets' new UK executive team will focus on further growing its share of the UK pet insurance market and evolving its customer experience channels to meet the increasing demands of UK pet parents.

“As the UK economy has faltered, pet insurance has become an increasingly important resource for pet owners facing rising prices, especially in vet treatment. ManyPets has always been on pet parents' side and aims to support them fully in their pet lives. We remain focused on evolving our offer to meet current challenges and will continue to invest in our market-leading approach to pet insurance by leveraging proprietary and advanced technologies, developing new products, and being easy to do business with,” Barile said.
