Marsh bolsters real estate practice in the UK

Broking stalwart Tim Scoble (pictured) has made the switch to Marsh.

Appointed as chief executive of Marsh’s UK real estate practice, the three-decade industry veteran brings experience from both Willis Towers Watson and Aon. At the latter, Scoble most recently served as UK real estate practice head while at WTW he was a leadership partner within the property investors division.

In his new role, which he will assume later this year, the CEO will have overall responsibility for the development of strategic solutions for clients. The UK real estate practice is part of Marsh JLT Specialty and provides insurance and risk advisory services to real estate owners, operators, managers, and developers.

Meanwhile also augmenting the team is Mark Lumley, whose appointment as client director marks his return to Marsh’s UK real estate practice where he previously held a senior vice president position. The former JLT development director will join later this year from Howden where he had been real estate head.

“The UK real estate industry is faced with an increasingly complex and fast-moving risk environment, due to issues such as rising construction costs, fires or natural hazards, cyberattacks, and terrorism,” noted Paul Moody, UK chief executive of Marsh JLT Specialty.

“We’re delighted to have experts of Tim and Mark’s calibre joining our team. With their combined leadership and deep industry knowledge, our UK real estate practice will be well-placed to deliver unrivalled advice and solutions to clients across the UK.”

Commenting on the development, Marsh UK & Ireland CEO Chris Lay said the appointments underline the major broker’s commitment to the UK real estate industry and its significant investment in the market-leading capabilities of the company.

“We welcome Tim and Mark to the UK real estate practice, as we continue to deliver the services and solutions our clients require to mitigate the mounting challenges they now face, and contribute to their long-term success,” added the chief executive.
