MBC Insurance has rebranded as Clear Insurance Ireland, effective July 1, 2025, as part of Clear Group’s wider strategy to consolidate its operations in the Irish market under a single brand.

The rebrand follows the Clear Group’s acquisition of McAuliffe Barry & Collins Ltd in 2023, which marked its entry into Ireland and its first acquisition outside the UK. The firm traded as MBC Insurance and Techinsure.ie.

The company has since expanded its Irish presence through additional deals, including the 2025 acquisition of Phelan Caswell Insurances, which had previously absorbed EBIB and Sweeney Walsh & Associates. In 2023, the Clear Group also broadened its capabilities in the region with a 50% stake in Thomond Underwriting, its first managing general agent (MGA) investment in Ireland.

The acquisitions form part of a broader effort by Clear to build out a cohesive Irish operation backed by a common identity and shared infrastructure, the company said.

The rebrand will extend to Techinsure.ie and will apply to future acquisitions, aiming to create a unified market presence. The company confirmed there will be no changes to existing policies or client relationships. Communications and digital channels have started to reflect the new branding from July 1.

Des Murphy, CEO of Clear Insurance Ireland, said the rebrand supports the integration of services while maintaining continuity for clients. He added that being part of a larger organisation offers greater access to specialist resources and allows for a broader product offering, while continuing to deliver local service.

The Clear Group, a UK-based insurance intermediary, has completed more than 50 acquisitions and now manages over £1 billion in gross written premium. In late 2024, the Group acquired Lloyd’s wholesale broker Lilley Plummer Risks, its largest deal to date by premium volume. In May 2025, it merged Profile Underwriting and One Commercial Specialty under a new MGA brand, Shape Underwriting.
