The Chartered insurance broker Partners& has today announced the appointment of Ross Dingwall (pictured) as managing partner (Scotland). He will report to Aaron Devitt and join the group executive team on November 01, in a move that the firm said underscores its commitment to growing its business through the acquisition of talent.

Dingwall joins from Hiscox where he had held several roles since 2000, including serving as UK sales director, UK broker channel MD and, most recently, distribution director, overseeing broker, direct, schemes, partnerships and marketing. He was also a member of its UK leadership team for the last 12 years and partner since 2014.

In his new role, Dingwall will play an integral role in expanding Partners&’s footprint in the north of England and Scotland, using his prior experience to support the development of constructive, partnership-led relationships with the insurer market.

Commenting on the news, Phil Barton, Partners& CEO, said it was great to have Dingwall on the Partners& team. He added that the firm’s belief in crafting mutually beneficial partnerships between its people, clients and insurers was crucial to its success.

Barton highlighted the experience, industry insights and leadership skills that Dingwall will bring to the team. He also noted that these are in line with the business’s ambition to move away from “short-term, adversarial” relationships with insurers, to partnerships that are focused on delivering outstanding outcomes for clients.

Dingwall said that over his three decades in the insurance industry he has had the pleasure of working with many brokers across the UK and developing long-lasting partnerships that benefited both clients, brokers and insurers.

“When looking for my next career move, I wanted to join a business that truly puts the client at the centre of its thinking,” he said. “I have known Phil and the other senior leaders for many years, and the more I got to know about Partners&, I knew I wanted to be part of it. The team’s values and their ambitions are very similar to my own and I am excited about the contribution I can make to build the number one insurance advisory business in the UK.”
