Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has announced a partnership with Ecclesia Group, wherein it will acquire its assets in the Netherlands and Belgium.

This transaction will add seven businesses and 700 colleagues across both countries to SRG, marking its first acquisition in mainland Europe and a key milestone in its international expansion following its launch in the Asia-Pacific region last year.

As part of the agreement, Ecclesia Group will join Warburg Pincus and Temasek as shareholders in SRG.

In addition, Ecclesia Group CEO Jochen Körner will join the SRG board as a non-executive director.

This announcement comes after SRG’s active 2024, during which the group completed 12 acquisitions, expanded into the Asia-Pacific region, and secured refinancing with Warburg Pincus and Temasek becoming majority shareholders.

Ecclesia Group, recognised as Germany’s largest insurance broker for companies and institutions, specialises in industrial and specialist insurance solutions. The organisation places approximately €3 billion annually into the global insurance markets and operates extensively across Europe.

“This transformative partnership is a pivotal moment for SRG as we continue to expand our capabilities and reach,” said Warren Downey, Group CEO of SRG. “We are delighted to welcome Ecclesia Group as a shareholder and Jochen Körner to the SRG board as a non-executive director. Jochen’s vast experience will undoubtedly provide valuable guidance and insight as we pursue our strategic goals.”

Meanwhile, Körner said they were delighted to enter into the partnership with a business that shares its dedication to expertise and service.

“This partnership allows us to focus on strengthening our position in the German market while our international assets contribute to SRG’s international growth journey,” he added. “Together, we are creating a powerful alliance to shape the future of specialist insurance.”

The partnership is expected to position both organisations for continued growth across Europe and other markets.
