Personal and commercial insurance broker The County Group is expanding its presence in Shropshire, England with the opening of its first branch in Shrewsbury town.
Shropshire Live reported that the new branch located within Shrewsbury Business Park is run by account manager Jonathan Evans and Mathew Bailey.
The report said Shrewsbury was chosen as the location for the new branch because of its growth as a commercial centre and its thriving business community.
“We have long earmarked Shrewsbury as the ideal location for our expanding branch network,” Evans was quoted as saying in the report. “Geographically, it is located really well for us within our expanding branch network in the Midlands, North England and Wales.”
“Our CEO has family in Shrewsbury and knows the town well and it was always in his plans to open a branch here as he knows what a prosperous area it is,” he added.

Evans said the broker is targeting both small and large businesses in the Shrewsbury region.
Considered as one of the largest brokers in the North West, The County Group currently has 22 branches in England and Wales and employs 250 people, according to Shropshire Live. In 2016, the brokerage secured more than £60 million worth of personal and business insurance premiums for their clients.
“We believe that we offer something different in that we are part of a large £60m group so have access to market leading insurance schemes that other brokers won’t have, but also offer that local personal service which is important,” Evans said.
Evans claimed that the company has “schemes and preferential rates other brokers in the area are unlikely to have.”

“It is by having local offices and personal service that has fuelled the growth of the company,” he added.
