Surrey-headquartered esure Group plc has tapped media bigwig Nick Hugh as the latest addition to its board.

Hugh, chief executive of Telegraph Media Group, has now assumed the role of non-executive director (NED) at the personal lines insurer. He joined the publisher in January 2017 to become its first chief operating officer after being with internet company Yahoo for eight years where he served as vice president for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

esure’s new NED has been at The Telegraph’s helm since June of last year, when he succeeded longtime CEO Murdoch MacLennan. His more than two decades of experience includes time spent at telco BT and advertising technology specialist Phorm.

The insurer’s board is chaired by founder Sir Peter Wood.
