Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI) has announced the hiring of two senior risk underwriters, Karen Crowley and Arwel Roberts, as it looks to continue strengthening its UK Trade Credit division.

Crowley joins TMHCCI from Atradius, where she most recently worked as a senior key account underwriter. She brings over 20 years of experience in trade credit, along with financial analysis and client communication skills that are expected to be a valuable asset to her new team.

Roberts, who joins from his most recent role at Coface, has also had many years within risk underwriting at Atradius. With over 16 years of industry experience, he has focused on several trade sectors including services and retail.

Ray Massey, underwriting director – credit at TMHCCI, expressed his excitement at the new hires, stating that “both individuals have a wealth of technical expertise, particularly in financial analysis, as well as excellent reputations within the market.”

Massey also highlighted the significance of the new hires in assisting with TMHCCI’s planned growth, enhancing product offerings to clients, brokers and buyers, and maintaining their high level of service.

“The expansion of the trade credit division of TMHCCI comes at an exciting time as we plan to deliver continued growth and develop our overall portfolio and proposition,” Massey said.

To support this continued growth, TMHCCI recently moved its London Market operations to a new location on the sixth floor of 20 Fenchurch Street, also known as the Walkie Talkie. Alongside this move, the insurer also announced plans to open a new broker trading floor during the first quarter of 2023.

“We need more space for our increasing headcount, and we want them to have the best facilities and working environment we can provide,” said Simon Button, chief underwriting officer for TMHCCI’s London Market business. “Our Lime Street premises have served us well over the years, but we are excited to be making the move to the Walkie Talkie with our dedicated broker trading floor and we look forward to welcoming our broker partners to our new home.”
