Hastings Insurance Services has strengthened its board of directors with the addition of two top business executives including one from multinational finance giant Visa.

Valerie Dias, Visa Europe’s chief officer of risk and compliance, will join the company board on October 1, according to a report by Reuters.

Sue Amies-King, the current chief executive of UK water retailer Water Plus, also joined the board on July 28, the report added.

Dias has been part of Visa Europe’s executive leadership team for more than 17 years and has been serving as non-executive director of various company boards since 2007.

As chief finance risk officer, Dias led the workstream that executed on the multibillion transaction merger of Visa and Visa Europe.

She sets the strategic and operational risk agenda for the European market and manages a portfolio of profitable risk products.

Dias, who previously served as chief finance officer, was among the Financial Times Stock Exchange “100 Women to Watch” in 2012 and 2013.

Dias is also a non-executive board director at Ipswich Building Society, Chartered Management Institute and University for Industry.

Amies-King, meanwhile, was appointed in June as chief executive of Water Plus, a £1-billion joint venture between United Utilities and Severn Trent Water that provides retail services to about 400,000 business customers in the UK.

For about eight years, she also worked at Aviva and held senior roles including customer value maximisation director and director of customer experience of the life insurance unit.
