The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) has followed in the footsteps of the Lloyd’s Market Association – which closed its office from March 17 – as it is now also in full work-from-home mode.

“In light of the current guidance issued by the government in regards to COVID-19, the MGAA has decided that all members of staff are to work from home until March 31 initially,” announced the trade body on LinkedIn yesterday (March 18).

“All employees have the capability to work remotely and will still be on hand should anyone require any support. We will continue to work with all our members, partners, and associates over the coming weeks and months to minimise disruption.”

Starting 4pm today, the Lloyd’s of London underwriting room will also be closed until further notice.

Meanwhile Direct Insurance Group Plc staff is working remotely as well.

“It’s business as usual for our team and we just wanted to say a big hello from us,” posted sister firms Direct Insurance Corporate Risks and Direct Insurance London Market on their respective LinkedIn pages yesterday.

“We are working incredibly hard from home to continue to provide our clients and partners with the best quality service during these unprecedented times. We are available for video calls, audio calls, and emails as usual, so please get in touch.”

New player Convex Group has also revealed its business continuity plan.

On its website, Convex stated: “As part of our ongoing review of operations and following the latest UK government update, Convex has moved predominately to a home working operation in both London and Bermuda.

“This means that our underwriting and claims operations will now be undertaken remotely. Convex, as a new company, has been well set up to support remote working/mobile technology and continue to support you in the same friendly, straightforward, and efficient way as always.”
