“Get your trainers on and help us get a step closer to new treatments for dementia.”

Those were the words of Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) chairman Chris Wallace when IUAD called on the industry to join the Memory Walk campaign of the Alzheimer’s Society, which is committed to spending at least £150 million over the next decade on dementia research.

As part of its Memory Walk initiative, a total of 38 flagship events will take place across the UK in autumn, and insurance executives are encouraged to sign up for their local Memory Walk.

The campaign also features an ‘Organise Your Own’ pack. In addition, IUAD supporters can use discount code IUAD20 to save up to 20% on their Memory Walk registration.

“Every one of us can make a difference to people affected by dementia,” said Wallace, who is executive director at QBE Europe.

“I would love to see colleagues across the industry taking on a Memory Walk – whether it’s with family and friends at a local event, or by organising a walk for their firm.”

Since Alzheimer’s Society movement IUAD was formed in 2017, it has raised £1.8 million for the benefit of the UK Dementia Research Institute. The goal is to raise £10 million.
