McLarens-owned Halliwell Forensics announces merger

By Terry Gangcuangco

McLarens-owned Halliwell Forensics, which launched in the UK and Ireland in June 2022, has expanded by merging with fellow forensic investigation firm Geoffrey Hunt & Partners (GHP).

In an emailed release, Halliwell Forensics announced its swoop for GHP’s assets and team without disclosing the merger’s financial terms. Providing a full-service engineering and scientific platform to insurance and legal clients, GHP has been operating in Britain since the 1960s.

GHP partners Cliff Christie and Jan Graham now hold the position of directors at Halliwell Forensics, bringing with them the acquired company’s full line-up of senior associates.

“Halliwell Forensics has made a significant mark since its launch last year,” noted Christie. “When presented with this opportunity to join forces with Lee and his team, we saw a huge opportunity for us to rapidly grow both our UK and international client base.

“While many of the forensic investigation firms are small outfits or individual consultants, we are growing a nationwide network with the ambition to be the best provider of technical forensic investigations.”

Christie was referring to Halliwell Forensics managing director Lee Masson (pictured), whose camp offers international forensic investigation services to loss adjusters, insurance companies, protection and indemnity clubs, solicitors, and corporate clients.

London-headquartered Halliwell Forensics is part of the Halliwell Group of companies, which are wholly owned by global claims services provider McLarens. This year, US-based Halliwell expanded into Australia and New Zealand with the addition of GKA Investigations Group and Fire Research Group.

In the UK, the GHP deal means a broader network of five offices and additional lab facilities. Locations include Bath, Runcorn, and Dumfries.

“We are building a team of highly experienced forensic investigators,” said Masson. “Since launching Halliwell Forensics, we’ve seen a huge demand for a national network of specialists, technically competent investigators with an in-depth understanding of the insurance and legal sectors.

“We are delighted to be joining forces with GHP and welcome Cliff, Jan, and the team who are all hugely respected in the market and bring additional expertise in electrical, mechanical, and materials forensic investigation.”
