Engineering specialist María Teresa Queralt, who has been with MAPFRE Global Risks (MGR) in Madrid for many years, has moved to London to coordinate and develop the on-site engineering activities of the underwriting process in the UK branch.

Amid increased business volumes being underwritten in the British capital, Queralt will also be sharing her risk engineering expertise in customer meetings to support underwriters. Among the goals are streamlining the underwriting process and boosting local underwriting teams’ training on technical issues related to industrial risk management.

“Moving from Madrid to London is a big move for me, but with the backing of MGR in the UK, and the team in Madrid, I am confident that I can bring value to brokers and clients to increase the Global Risks business of MAPFRE, in one of the most complex and sophisticated insurance markets in the world,” commented Queralt, who brings with her 26 years of experience to her new location.

MGR is the MAPFRE unit that caters to the UK and international markets.

“Her move demonstrates how MGR looks to differentiate its offering to brokers and clients, by having a deeper technical understanding of clients’ risks,” said Greg Harris, director for MGR in the UK.

Multinational insurance group MAPFRE employs 37,000 people across 5,400 offices worldwide. As for its brokers, the number stands at 84,000.
