Probitas 1492 has announced that it has named Ezeugo “Zugo” Aguta as head of cyber strategy and innovation.

Aguta joins Probitas from Munich Re, where he had served as a senior cyber underwriter since 2018. Before Munich Re, he was the head of security risk and data analytics at MasterCard (VocaLink), specialising in cyber risk analysis, cyberattack simulation and developing and automating cyber security control frameworks.

On top of his underwriting duties, Aguta will also lead Probitas’ new technical arm, Probitas Labs. Probitas Labs aims to become the market’s centre of excellence for cyber, by focusing on three main areas: cyber research & development; client & vendor services; and thought leadership.

“I am excited to join Probitas, especially at this stage, to continue establishing our unique value proposition to the market,” said Aguta.

“It’s a great time to welcome Zugo to the team at Probitas, as there is an opportunity to build a cyber proposition that gives back to the market while providing services insureds have been yearning for,” commented Probitas head of cyber & technology Richard Taylor.

Aguta’s appointment comes months after Probitas first announced that it was officially underwriting cyber. The company tapped Taylor to help launch and lead the new business in July. Like Aguta, Taylor joined Probitas from Munich Re.
