The American Hellenic Hull Insurance Company has changed its name to American Steamship Owners Marine Insurance Company (Europe), or American Club (Europe) for short.

The company is also entering a new business line by expanding its licence to include protection and indemnity (P&I) and related business for qualified operators in the European Union and European Economic Area. American Club will begin offering P&I business on Feb. 20.

An established marine hull underwriter, American Hellenic Hull will continue to cover hull and machinery risks for all types of vessels under the trade name of American Steamship Owners Marine Insurance Company (Europe).

Last year, American Club enjoyed a solid 2021 renewal season despite challenging business conditions. The insurer is a hull and machinery marine insurance specialist that mainly caters to general cargo vessels, dry bulk carriers, tankers, container ships, gas carriers and passenger vessels. It currently insures more than 3,000 vessels with gross written premiums of over US$62 million (£45.7 million), according to its website.
